Vanishing Act

By: John Feisntein

~Summary~
Vanishing Act is a book about two teenage reporters and interviewers that go to the U.S. Open to watch some tennis, but end up having to solve a kidnapping incident. This book is a sequel to the book The Last Shot. The main characters are Susan Carol and Stevie Thomas who become kid reporters when they win a National Writing Contest. Susan Carol is a 14 year old from South Carolina and is a sports fanatic who seems to know everything about everyone. Stevie is a 13 year old from Philadelphia who plays basketball. In this story they are sent to cover the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament with a friend reporter, Bobby Kheller. While they are waiting for a match to begin one of the players is kidnapped. When Susan and Stevie dig a little deeper they find that it was all staged to make a movie deal. They must stop the plot before it is too late. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. I loved it because it included mystery, sports and it was a pleasure to read. This book keeps you guessing and leaves you wanting to keep on reading.

~Rating and Review~

I rated this book a 9 1/2 out of ten, because it was action packed and it made me want to guess what would happen next. I usually never give books a rating this high, but this book was so suspensful and breath taking, I had to give it a good rating.

~About the author~

John Feinstein writes most of his books about sports. Anyone know why? It's because he was a sports commentator. He started his career at Duke University where he was a sports writer for The Chronicle. Feinstein has now written 23 books, including best sellers on sports such as basketball, golf and football. Feinstein stopped commentating after a football game when he announced that the ref made a bad call. He thought that was a very rude comment, so the only other time he came back to the commentating booth was when he apologized to every one for making the rude remark. John is currently living in Potomac, M.D and Shelter Island, N.Y, with his wife, son and daughter.
